The team comprises 30 faculty members, including 18 full professors, 8 associate professors, and 4 lecturers; all members hold doctoral degrees. Team leader Professor Yang Baozhong is a recipient of a special government allowance from the State Council, a member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, and a member of a State Council discipline evaluation group. The team consistently adheres to the academic spirit of “sitting on a cold bench, doing hard work, gnawing at tough bones, and pursuing great practical use.” It has achieved a series of notable results in areas such as ancient character exegesis, documentary collation, Chinese character standardization, and cultural inheritance. In recent years, the team has undertaken 2 academic team projects on obscure classical knowledge funded by the National Social Science Fund, 6 major projects funded by the National Social Science Fund, and 6 key projects, with nearly RMB 40 million in research funding; it has published more than 300 papers in core journals. Multiple成果 have received the Ministry of Education’s First and Third Prizes for Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements in Higher Education, as well as multiple Hebei Province Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards. The team participated in the national major cultural project “Chinese Character Database Project” and independently undertook the subproject “Collation and Exegesis of Characters Used in Ming and Qing Books,” laying a solid foundation for China’s informatization and Chinese character digitization.
In education and teaching, the team practices a “combination of fieldwork + Q&A” training model, focusing on shaping both students’ academic abilities and moral character. In the past five years, the team has trained 135 master’s students and 35 doctoral students; over ten of the advised theses have won Hebei Province Outstanding Doctoral or Master’s Theses. Team members have led or participated in the development of one nationallevel firstclass course, one national level first class major, and one virtual teaching and research studio of the Ministry of Education. They have won a Second Prize in the National Teaching Achievement Awards, and First and Third Prizes in the National University Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition.
