HBU Hosts “Expert Weekend Trip to Hebei” Event

 

 

The Expert Weekend Trip to Hebei 2024 Hsing-Tung Chang Academic Forum: Brain Science Horizon & International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application" was held in Xiongan New Area from October 19-20. Guided by the Ministry of Education and hosted by Hebei University, the conference focused on "Brain Understanding, Brain Protection, and Cognitive Brain Systems" The event attracted over 400 participants, including experts and scholars from 68 universities and research institutions at home (such as Peking University and Fudan University) and abroad, international guests from France and Brazil, industry representatives, and faculty and students from Hebei university.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Academicians Yang Xiongli and Guo Aike from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Gao Tianming from the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Cheng Qixue, member of Hebei Provincial Education Commission, party member and Chief Inspector of Provincial Education Department; Li Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Xiong'an New Area), and Liang Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC HBU Committee and vice president of the university. Representatives from the Chinese Medical Association and Chinese Aging Well Association also delivered speeches. Li Hancai, Executive Deputy Director of HBUs Medical School, presided over the ceremony.

 

Cheng Qixue noted that since the launch of the "Expert Weekend Trip to Hebei" initiative by Hebei Provincial Department of Education, Hebei University and other key provincial universities have organized numerous provincial-level events, attracting renowned academicians and national-level talent, thereby enhancing the quality of higher education in Hebei and injecting new vitality into the province's high-quality socioeconomic development.

 

Li Tao emphasized that brain science, being at the forefront of life sciences, is a key focus for Xiong'an New Area's industrial development. The Hsing-Tung Chang Forum serves as an international platform for distinguished professionals in industry, education, research and application to showcase achievements, share experiences, exchange ideas and foster collaboration in brain science. This platform, he added, would help the New Area explore new pathways in modern life sciences and biotechnology industries while providing strong support for their development in the region.

 

Vice President Liang Wei highlighted that Hebei University remains oriented toward the frontiers of world science and technology, the main economic battlefields, the country's major needs, and people's life and health. Through high-quality medical development, HBU aims to contribute to the Healthy China Initiative and medical technology innovation. She emphasized that this forum would strengthen cooperation among universities, research institutions, and enterprises, achieving win-win development while serving major national strategic needs.

 

The academicians provided in-depth insights into career development in Chinese brain science, recent advances in neurophysiology and neurobiology, and shared their vision for brain science research in China, and put forward suggestions on further deepening the integration of industry, education, research and application in the field of brain science.

 

The conference focused on the latest developments in the field of brain science, and covered various interdisciplinary research areas including pain and itch sensation, visual and auditory perception, brain protection, cognitive brain systems, and neuro-aesthetics. Through keynote speeches, face-to-face discussions, book donations by masters in the field, specialized presentations, and poster sessions, participants shared stories about Dr. Hsing-Tung Chang, discussed the latest research findings, and created networking opportunities for young scholars, promoting researches in brain science and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
