UK’s University of Sussex Delegation Visits Hebei University
On the morning of October 22, Professor Robin Banerjee, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sussex, UK, along with two delegates, visited Hebei university. Chen Hongjun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC HBU Committee and vice president of the university, met with the British delegation. Officials from the Office of International Cooperation, Office of Educational Administration, and International College attended the meeting.
Vice President Chen extended a warm welcome to Professor Banerjee and his delegation, and provided an overview of HBU's recent developments. He expressed hope for expanded cooperation between the two universities across various fields. Professor Banerjee introduced their academic strengths and interdisciplinary development, and expressed his desire for closer collaboration between the two universities. Both parties held in-depth and practical discussions on faculty and student exchange programs. Following the meeting, the delegation toured the HBU’s History Museum.
The University of Sussex, established in 1961, is a world-leading comprehensive research university. It ranks 246th in the QS World University Rankings 2025, and holds the top position globally in Development Studies (2023 QS Subject Rankings). Throughout its 60-year history, the university has been home to five Nobel laureates and twelve Fellows of the British National Academies among its faculty.
