Guo Jian Meets Guests from Brazil

On the morning of December 6, Guo Jian, the secretary of the party committee, met with the visiting President Anderson Antonio Pedroso and his delegation from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil at the Wusi Road campus.

Guo Jian welcomed the visit of Anderson Antonio Pedroso and his delegation, emphasizing the significant achievements in promoting international Chinese education through the collaboration between Hebei University and the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, which established a Confucius Institute as early as 2010. He expressed the hope for further strengthening exchanges and practical cooperation in the construction of Portuguese language programs, talent development, mutual visits of faculty, and student exchanges. Anderson expressed Brazil's commitment to cultivating Chinese language talents, with the Catholic University of Rio Janeiro establishing a Chinese cultural center. He emphasized the importance of Hebei University as a key partner and hoped that the visit and the signing of specific cooperation agreements would serve as a new opportunity to further promote sustainable development in international cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.

During the visit, Shen Shigang, member of the party committee and vice president, attended the 2023 Confucius Institute Council of the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and signed cooperation agreements with President Anderson. Additionally, President Anderson and his delegation visited HBU History Museum, as well as the School of History, School of Foreign Languages, and School of Economics, engaging in discussions with relevant unit leaders, experts, and scholars to explore potential collaborations.

Officials from the Confucius Institute of the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, the Party Committee Office, Office of International Cooperation, College of International Exchange and Education, and the Confucius Institute Center were among those who participated in the aforementioned activities.
