Guo Jian Meets Guests from Mauritania

On the morning of December 7th, Guo Jian, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Hebei University, met with the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Niang Mamoudou, and his delegation at the Wusi Road campus. The meeting was attended by Hou Jianguo, the Second-level Inspector of the Education Department of Hebei Province, and was presided over by Shen Shigang, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university.

Hou Jianguo welcomed Minister Mamoudou and his delegation on behalf of the Education Department of Hebei Province. He introduced the general situation of Hebei Province and the current development of higher education in the province, expressing the hope for continued support from the Mauritanian Ministry of Higher Education. He also emphasized the importance of international exchanges and cooperation, particularly in the development of the "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills Education" program through the Confucius Institute as a platform for furthering China-Mauritania friendship.

Minister Mamoudou expressed gratitude for the warm reception at Hebei University and expressed the hope for continued collaboration in international Chinese education, including language teaching and mutual visits of teaching staff, to further promote exchanges between the two countries.

Guo Jian welcomed the delegation and introduced the basic situation of Hebei University, including the cooperation with the University of Nouakchott Al Aasriya in Mauritania to establish a Confucius Institute. He expressed the university's willingness to work together to make the Confucius Institute a significant bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between China and Mauritania, contributing to educational, cultural, and technological exchanges and cooperation between the two countries as well as the construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative.

Camara, the President of the University of Nouakchott Al Aasriya, introduced the development of the university and expressed the intention to further exchange between the two universities.

Subsequently, Minister Mamoudou and his delegation held discussions with Mauritanian students studying at Hebei University. Mamoudou and Guo Jian also participated in a working meeting on the construction of the Confucius Institute and the promotion of cooperation between the two universities.

Bounama Hana, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Mauritania, Mohamedou, the Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Nouakchott Al Aasriya, Guo Guangwei, the Chinese Director, Liu Jiangyi, a first-level researcher at the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Education Department of Hebei Province, Shen Shigang, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Hebei University, as well as officials from the Party Committee Office, Office of International Cooperation, College of International Exchange and Education, and the Confucius Institute Center, attended the meeting.
