Inspection Team of the Ministry of Education Visits HBU

From August 17th to 18th, the inspection team of the Ministry of Education came to HBU to conduct a special inspection on the joint construction between the Ministry and Hebei province. This inspection focuses on the construction of large-scale series of research facilities (platforms), and is carried out both online and offline. The inspection team is headed by Vice President Kang Zhen of Beijing Normal University, and its members are experts from Beijing Normal University, Renmin University of China and Wuhan University. 

Guo Jian, secretary of the party committee, presided over the research forum and delivered a speech. He said that "co-construction between the Ministry of Education and the Province" is a strategic measure to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on education, and a major innovation in the reform and development of higher education in the new era. Hebei University will thoroughly implement the decisions and arrangements of the Ministry of Education, the Hebei Provincial CPC Committee and the Provincial Government, gather high-quality resources, promote the construction of large-scale series of research facilities (platforms) with high quality. By doing so, we can carry out a new journey of joint construction between the Ministry of Education and Hebei province of Hebei University.

Wang Tingshan, a first-leval inspector of Hebei Education Department, reported on the work of Hebei Province in promoting co-construction between the Ministry and Province. He emphasized that the Hebei Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government attached great importance to the joint construction of the Ministry and Province, and have incorporated the key construction of Hebei University's Yanzhao Culture, Life Sciences, and Green Development subject group into the “14th five-year” Plan of Hebei Province. In the future, Hebei Education Department will continue to increase its support to Hebei University and continue to increase investment in policies, funds, platforms, and projects, so as to make a breakthrough in the "Double First-Class" construction of Hebei University.

Academician Kang Le, President of Hebei University, reported on the working ideas and specific measures of HBU to promote the construction of large-scale series of research facilities (platforms) jointly built by the Ministry and Province from four aspects: innovation of the system and mechanism, strengthening of top-level design, strengthening of talent introduction and cultivation, and convergence of construction. In addition, he introduced the work of HBU in serving local economic and social development, the major national strategy, and the significant progress and outstanding achievements made by HBU in discipline construction, scientific research, and social services since the joint construction of the Ministry and Province.

Guo Changbao, vice president and executive dean of Institute for Advanced Study of Yanzhao Culture, and Gong Zhizhong, vice president and executive dean of the Institute of Life Sciences and Green Development, respectively reported on the specific situation of the two major subject groups promoting the construction of large-scale series of research facilities (platforms). The heads of the School of Chinese Language and Literature and the School of Life Sciences reported on the construction of Chinese literature and biology.

Kang Zhen, head of the inspection team, fully affirmed the cooperation and co-construction work of HBU between the Ministry and Province, especially the mechanism and effectiveness of the construction of large-scale series of research facilities (platforms). He believes that the clear thinking of school construction, the innovation of mechanism and system, and giving full play to the advantages of the working mechanism of four-party linkage have promoted the school's various undertakings to achieve new breakthroughs. He put forward specific suggestions on further strengthening the inner construction of large-scale series of research facilities (platforms) and improving the mechanism of joint construction.

During the inspection, the expert group visited the scientific research platform of Institute for Advanced Study of Yanzhao Culture, the professional laboratory of the Institute of Life Sciences and Green Development, and the large-scale instrument sharing platform. And the experts also visited off-campus research bases such as Lianchi Academy of Hebei University, Baiyangdian Field Scientific observation and Experimental Station, Baiyangdian Wetland Water quality treatment Project, and Joint Ecological Research Laboratory of Hebei University-Xiongan New District Ecological Environment Bureau.

The heads of the Higher Education Office, Development and Planning Office, Graduate Office, Personnel Office, Science and Technology Office, and Finance Office of Hebei Education Department, heads of relevant functional departments, heads of teaching and research units, leaders of relevant disciplines, and teacher representatives of HBU participated in the research.
