Hebei University Established Overseas Students Association of Hebei University

On the morning of February 17, Hebei University held the inaugural meeting and the first committee (director) meeting of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei University and the Western Returned Scholars Association of Hebei University (Overseas Students Association of Hebei University). Fu Huidong, Secretary and Chairman of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei Province, Li Yuhua, Secretary and Chairman of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Baoding Municipality, and Lu Jianchun, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of CPC Baoding Municipal Committee and Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Baoding, attended the meeting. Guo Jian, Secretary of Communist Party of China of Hebei University, Wang Peiguang, Deputy Secretary of Communist Party of China of Hebei University and Vice President of Hebei University, and Yang Lihai, Deputy Secretary of Communist Party of China of Hebei University attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Yang Lihai.

Guo Jian and Fu Huidong jointly inaugurated the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei University and the Western Retuned Scholars Association of Hebei University (Overseas Students Association of Hebei University). Other universities and colleges and overseas alumni sent their congratulations in the form of videos and congratulatory letters. Representatives of other political parties at Hebei University and the Hebei University Friendship Federation for Non-CPC Intellectuals gave congratulatory speeches. Wang Peiguang, the first Chairman of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei University and the first Chairman of the Overseas Students Association of Hebei University, made a statement.

A congratulatory letter was sent by the Western Returned Scholars Association of Hebei Province and the Overseas Students Association of Hebei Province. The letter stated that the establishment of the Association is a concrete practice of the university to implement the spirit of the series of speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping, actively respond to the common aspirations of overseas students, and greet the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China with practical actions.

Fu Huidong expressed his warm congratulations on the establishment of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Association of Hebei University. He said that the establishment of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Association of Hebei University is a major event in the political life of the vast number of returned overseas Chinese and returned overseas -educated scholars at Hebei University. It is also an important achievement of Hebei University's centennial, deepening the study and education of Party history, and practicing the activity of "I do practical things for the masses". He added that the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Association of Hebei University will strengthen political leadership with a higher position to improve unity, attract talents with the help of a wider platform to increase attractiveness, deepen services for overseas Chinese with a better mechanism to increase cohesion and take more measures to consolidate the foundation for development to improve capacities.

Guo Jian expressed his gratitude to the United Front Work Department of CPC Hebei Provincial Committee, the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei Province, the United Front Work Department of CPC Baoding Municipal Committee, and Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Baoding Municipality for their long-term support. He stressed that the inaugural meeting marked a new stage in the work of returned overseas Chinese and returned overseas -educated scholars at Hebei University. The Federation of Rerurned Overseas Chinese of Hebei University and Overseas Students Association of Hebei University must highlight political and ideological guidance, thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, unite and lead the overseas Chinese and overseas students to draw wisdom from the party’s a century of struggle, and unswervingly follow the party. The Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei University and Overseas Students Association of Hebei University should carry forward the tradition of patriotism and glory of the University, unite and lead the overseas Chinese and overseas students to participate in the construction and development of the university in multiple aspects, angles and levels, and closely integrate their personal dreams with the development of the university. He added that the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Hebei University and Overseas Students Association of Hebei University should serve as a bridge to give full play to the role of uniting overseas Chinese, pooling their wisdom, exerting their capabilities, and safeguarding their interests, thus making greater contributions to "Double First-Class" construction of Hebei University, the construction of a modern, prosperous and beautiful province and the Chinese Dream of great national rejuvenation.
