VR Exhibition of the 7th “Seal Impressions of China” Teacher-Student Seal Engraving Competition Launches on a National Platform

On the occasion of International Museum Day (May 18), the digital VR panoramic exhibition of the 7th “Seal Impressions of China” Teacher-Student Seal Engraving Competition, part of the Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing, and Expression Contest, was officially launched on the National Smart Education Platform for Public Services and the China Language and Character Digital Museum. It is now open to teachers, students, and the general public nationwide for online viewing.

The “Seal Impressions of China” Teacher-Student Seal Engraving Competition is a national high-level classic seal engraving competition meticulously organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Language Commission. It serves as a significant national vehicle for promoting Chinese language and script culture, popularizing the art of seal engraving, and advancing aesthetic education. The current edition of the competition was unprecedentedly large in scale, attracting the participation of over 17,000 teachers and students nationwide, and receiving nearly 7,000 submitted works. Through rigorous evaluation, 616 outstanding works distinguished by their classic quality, artistic merit, and innovation were selected. These works not only adhere to the essence of traditional seal engraving but also incorporate contemporary connotations and a sense of national identity, showcasing the cultural literacy and creativity of teachers and students across the country. Previously, a physical exhibition of the award-winning works was successfully held at Hebei University, attracting extensive participation from various sectors of society and fostering a strong atmosphere for cultural heritage and aesthetic promotion, thereby demonstrating Hebei University’s sense of responsibility in the inheritance of traditional culture and the advancement of aesthetic education.

To further broaden the dissemination channels, amplify the educational value of the competition, and transcend the spatiotemporal limitations of physical exhibitions, Hebei University took the lead in creating this fully immersive digital VR panoramic exhibition. The exhibition hall utilizes cutting-edge digital technology to replicate the entire physical exhibition on a 1:1 scale, meticulously reproducing the line textures, compositional arrangements, and character details of each award-winning seal engraving work. It presents the unique charm of seal calligraphy, engraving techniques, and textual meaning in high definition.

The cloud-based exhibition hall features a clean interface and convenient operation, supporting immersive roaming, close-up viewing, and detail magnification. Without leaving home, audiences can “tour” the seal engraving art feast and immersively experience the thousand-year heritage and contemporary vitality of China’s ancient bronze and stone seal engraving culture. This promotes the digital, visual, and universal dissemination of excellent traditional culture. All teachers, students, and members of the public are cordially invited to view the exhibition online, appreciating the beauty of bronze and stone art and savoring the millennia-long cultural legacy of Chinese seal engraving from the comfort of their own homes.
