HBU Invited to Attend the “Tengchong Scientists Forum 2025” and the “University Presidents Forum 2025”
From December 5 to 6, HBU president Meng Qingyu was invited to participate in the “Tengchong Scientists Forum 2025,” hosted by Peking University and the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, and the “University Presidents Forum 2025.” At the opening roundtable discussion, he spoke on the topic of “more personalized training models,” presenting Hebei University’s top-level design and innovative practices for supporting the country’s strategy of opening up education to domestic and international university presidents, academicians, and experts.
Meng Qingyu noted that cultivating internationally oriented talent is a complex, systemic undertaking; problems encountered in the process cannot be solved in isolation. We shall strengthen overall coherence, systematization, and developmental thinking, construct resource-allocation models with new concepts, reshape the educational ecosystem, and proactively respond to the needs of the times and the nation. It is essential to closely align efforts with institutional strengths and regional socioeconomic development needs, aim high while seeking differentiated positioning and local service, and focus on building an integrated, collaborative, and sustainable new ecosystem for international talent cultivation.
The Tengchong Scientists Forum—often called the “Davos of science and technology”—is a high-level academic event. This forum drew more than 1,000 experts, scholars, and business representatives, including over 130 academicians and more than 70 university presidents from home and abroad, as well as 180 foreign guests from more than 20 countries. Meng Qingyu engaged with participants in in-depth exchanges on core topics such as higher education reform and serving the construction of a strong educational nation, continuously expanding Hebei University’s “technology circle” and “international circle.”
