HBU Affiliated Hospital Approved as an International Science and Technology Cooperation Base

Recently, the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology announced the list of approved international science and technology cooperation bases for 2025. HBU Affiliated Hospital has been approved to establish the "Hebei Provincial International Joint Research Center for Digital Twin Gastrointestinal Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment," marking a new milestone in the hospital's research capabilities.

According to reports, this research center is a significant component of the province's international science and technology cooperation bases, led by Hebei University Affiliated Hospital in collaboration with the Medical Digital Twin Research Group from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Immunology and Metabolism at Xuzhou Medical University. Together, they are dedicated to innovative research on medical digital twin technology in the field of gastrointestinal tumor diagnosis and treatment. The center will focus on foundational research of the gastrointestinal tumor microenvironment, clinical studies, and spatial multi-omics data computational modeling to establish a medical digital twin technology system. This will involve creating a personalized multi-omics complex cellular and genetic interaction network for patients to identify the optimal treatment methods or drug combinations suitable for individual gastrointestinal tumor patients, aiming to provide better diagnostic and treatment strategies.

Li Jinghua, the head of the research center and the president of Hebei University Affiliated Hospital, stated that the international science and technology cooperation base in Hebei Province is an important platform and backbone for enhancing the province's influence in science and technology. It plays a crucial role in strengthening international scientific cooperation and exchanges, improving the conditions and capabilities for international scientific collaboration, and enhancing the international impact of scientific innovation. Hebei University Affiliated Hospital will fully commit to the establishment of the "Hebei Provincial International Joint Research Center for Digital Twin Gastrointestinal Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment," leveraging its comprehensive advantages in medical care, education, and research. The hospital will focus on the goals of "building platforms, expanding channels, gathering resources, and improving capabilities," further integrating high-quality domestic and international resources. Through an international science and technology cooperation model combining "projects—talents—bases," the center aims to drive medical research and clinical practice with foundational medicine and digital twin technology, accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and big data in the health sector, enhance the output and transformation of innovative results in precise diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, and contribute to the effective improvement of the province's scientific innovation capacity and international competitiveness.
