The 2024 Council Meeting of the Confucius Institute at UMPSA Held at Our University
On November 18, the 2024 Council meeting of the Confucius Institute at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) was held at our university. Council members included Professor Meng Qingyu, Vice President of our university; Associate Professor Liang Weige, Director of the Confucius Institute Center; Zhang Minghui, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office; Professor Kamal, Assistant Vice Chancellor of UMPSA; Professor Li Lijun, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute; and Madam Yong Ying Mei, Malaysian Director of the Confucius Institute. Relevant personnel from the Confucius Institute Center and representatives from UMPSA also attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Yang Tao, Deputy Director of the Confucius Institute Center at our university.
In his speech, Meng Qingyu expressed that the Confucius Institute at UMPSA has played an important role in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia, achieving significant accomplishments in the field of "Chinese + vocational skills" language training. He looks forward to strengthening cooperation between the two universities in various fields to jointly promote their development.
Professor Kamal expressed gratitude for the support received from our university over the past year in terms of communication and collaboration, and he highly praised China's achievements in the field of education. He hopes that the two universities can continue to build on the results of their cooperation through the Confucius Institute to achieve even better outcomes in the future.
The agenda for this meeting was compact and substantial. The representatives first conducted a comprehensive summary of the work of the Confucius Institute at UMPSA for 2024, followed by the presentation of the work plan for 2025. The meeting also reviewed the financial report for 2024 and discussed the budget for 2025. Additionally, other related matters were addressed to provide guidance and support for the sustainable development of the Confucius Institute.
Both parties unanimously stated that the Confucius Institute at UMPSA serves as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and Malaysia, playing an important role in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries. They look forward to achieving even more fruitful results in the coming year.
