The First “East Asian Academy Culture” Academic Seminar Held at Our University
On November 15-16, the first “East Asian Academy Culture” academic seminar, co-hosted by Hebei University and the Korean Academy Society, was held at our university. Over 80 experts and scholars from countries including China, South Korea, Japan, the United States, and Vietnam, along with representatives from more than 50 academies such as Yuelu Academy, Bailudong Academy, Guanzhong Academy, and Guiyang Confucius Academy, attended the event. Liu Bing, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, and Liu Xiaomeng, the Vice Mayor of Baoding, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches, while Chen Hongjun, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President, hosted the ceremony.
Liu Bing pointed out that Hebei University and Baoding City jointly established Lianchi Academy to explore new models for enhancing the value of traditional cultural brands through collaboration between the university and the local government. Over the past two years, Lianchi Academy has developed a curriculum system, restored educational scenarios, and engaged in high-level research and the publication of cultural series, becoming an important platform for cultivating innovative cultural talents, researching traditional culture, and telling China’s stories effectively. Hebei University will further rely on Lianchi Academy to promote communication and cooperation among East Asian academies, contributing to cultural exchanges and mutual learning in the new era.
Liu Xiaomeng expressed that the convening of the East Asian Academy Culture academic seminar is another fruitful outcome of the joint establishment of Lianchi Academy. Baoding City will fully leverage the historical and cultural advantages of Lianchi Academy, utilizing Hebei University’s rich talent, innovation, and academic resources, to collaboratively transform Lianchi Academy into a golden hallmark of Baoding’s historical culture and a new landmark for urban development, ensuring the continuity of Lianchi Academy’s historical and cultural legacy.
At the main forum, Professor Li Jinshan, former Vice President of Hebei University and Director of the Hebei Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for the Inheritance and Development of National Studies, Professor Deng Hongbo, Vice President of the Chinese Academy Society and Professor at Yuelu Academy of Hunan University, Professor Uemura Kazuki, President of Wajisei Academy in Japan, and American cultural scholar Professor DuBois from Beijing Normal University delivered keynote speeches on the topic of “Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning among East Asian Academies.” The four sub-forums focused on “Cultural Mutual Learning among Academies,” “Academies and Traditional Culture,” “Academies and Art Education,” and “Contemporary Development of Academies,” where scholars discussed the significant cultural value of academy heritage from various perspectives and proposed strategic recommendations for the modern transformation of traditional academies.
