Chen Yaya Won Awards in the Final of the Third My Hebei Story Competition

On October 11, TRAN THI THUY QUYNH (Chen Yaya, Vietnamese), an international student of HBU, won the second prize and HBU won the “Excellent Organization Award” in the final of the “Hebei Province’s Third My Hebei Story - Chinese Speech Contest for Foreign Friends in Hebei”, jointly organized by the Hebei Provincial Office for the International Promotion of Chinese Language, the Hebei Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Hebei Radio and Television Station.

The competition was launched in June this year, with 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 3 third prizes. A total of 16 international students from 14 universities in the province were shortlisted for the finals. The competition not only provides a platform for foreign friends in Hebei to show their Chinese language proficiency and to conduct cultural exchanges, but also further tells good stories about Hebei and makes China’s voice heard.

HBU actively organized international students to participate in this competition. The review experts conducted all-round evaluations of the shortlisted contestants from aspects such as theme relevance, Chinese language proficiency, speech expressiveness, innovation, and communicability. In the final, on the theme of “ So close and so beautiful. Come to study abroad in Hebei”, Chen Yaya affectionately told moving stories about her study and life in HBU with proficient Chinese language skills. On the stage Chen expressed her original intention to study at Hebei University. She hopes to further explore the tourism development model in China and better serve tourists from China and Vietnam in the future. Her story was sincere in emotion and novel in perspective, which won unanimous praise from the judges on site and eventually she won the second prize.

Chen Yaya's outstanding performance in this competition not only demonstrated her personal talent and efforts, but also reflected the diversity and comprehensiveness of the talent cultivation model for international students in HBU. In the future, HBU will continue to optimize the cultivation plan for international students, constantly explore and innovate, and make unremitting efforts to cultivate more international talents who know and are friendly to China.
