Hebei University Hosts 2nd International Culture Festival and Confucius Institute Day

On September 21, the School of International Exchange and Education celebrated the Second International Culture Festival and the 2024 Confucius Institute Day. Shan Yaojun, member of the HBU Party Committee and Vice President, attended the event.

In his speech, Shan Yaojun emphasized that Hebei University is a higher education institution that embraces world cultures and nurtures international talent. The International Culture Festival has become a significant platform showcasing the university's educational characteristics, campus culture, and international image. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Confucius Institutes globally. The three Confucius Institutes founded by the university in Brazil, Malaysia, and Mauritania have made important contributions to promoting Chinese culture and voice, as well as facilitating cultural exchange and cooperation between countries.

International students from over 20 countries presented performances highlighting their unique cultures. A student from Niger performed African drumming, a Mongolian dancer named Xiaoyue showcased traditional dance, Vietnamese students displayed the unique grace of their culture through dance, and Yan Yang from Pakistan amazed the audience with a classic piece from traditional Chinese Peking Opera, "Ode to Pear Blossoms." The event reached its climax with dance medleys from Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, and Pakistan, along with a fashion show featuring traditional attire from various countries. Additionally, the university organized demonstrations of Chinese martial arts, with clubs like the Hanfu and Calligraphy societies offering Hanfu performances and calligraphy experiences, allowing international students to actively participate and experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture firsthand.

The event was attended by Bai Jin, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Zhang Aimei, Director of the Center for Educational Research and Teacher Training Promotion, and leaders from the International Cooperation Office and the Security Office, along with all faculty and students from the School of International Exchange and Education. Wang Ying, a second-level investigator from the Foreign Affairs Office of Baoding Municipal Government, and Li Zhiguang, Captain of the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of the Lianchi District Public Security Bureau, were also invited to attend.
