Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Mauritania Visits Our University

 

 

On the afternoon of September 4, Guo Jian, Party Secretary, met with Yacoub Moine, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and his delegation at the Wusi Road Campus.

 

Guo Jian extended a warm welcome to Yacoub Moine and his delegation, introducing the basic situation of Hebei University and the cooperation with the University of Nouakchott in Mauritania to establish a Confucius Institute. Yacoub Moine expressed gratitude for the invitation and the warm reception from Hebei University. Both parties agreed to turn the Confucius Institute into a crucial bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between China and Mauritania, further promoting educational and cultural exchanges between China, Mauritania, and Africa.

 

During the visit, Shen Shigang, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President, and Shan Yaojun held working talks with Minister Yacoub Moine. Shen Shigang discussed the activities conducted by the Confucius Institute at the University of Nouakchott over the past four years, including Chinese teaching, and expressed Hebei University's commitment to integrating its high-quality resources to support the development of the Confucius Institute. Shan Yaojun stated that Hebei University would leverage its strengths as a comprehensive university to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Mauritania. Yacoub Moine expressed hope that Hebei University would continue to enhance cooperation with Mauritania, providing convenience for students from Mauritania and surrounding African countries.

 

During their visit, Yacoub Moine and his delegation also held discussions with Mauritanian students studying at Hebei University and toured the research laboratory building and HBU Museum.

 

Officials from the Office of International Cooperation, the School of International Exchange and Education, and the Confucius Institute Work Center participated in the working talks.
