Academic News: HBU Faculty Publishes a Paper in Transportation Research Part E

Recently, a paper titled “Who should invest in EV charging infrastructure? Policy design under ZEV mandates,” co-authored by Associate Professor Chen Ting from the School of Management at our university and Chair Professor Kannan Govindan from the University of Adelaide Business School, Australia, has been published online in the internationally authoritative journal Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review. This journal is a leading publication in the fields of transportation, logistics, and operations management, recognized as an international ABS 3-star journal and a Chinese Academy of Sciences SSCI/SCI Zone 1 Top journal, wielding extensive and profound influence in transportation and policy research.

The study focuses on the optimal investor for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and the design of government incentive policies within the context of Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) regulations. Addressing the practical complexities arising from governments simultaneously implementing purchase subsidies, infrastructure subsidies, and ZEV mandate policies, the paper constructs a Stackelberg game model involving the government, upstream key component suppliers, and competitive internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV)/EV manufacturers. It systematically analyzes three typical charging infrastructure investment models: supplier-led investment, pure EV manufacturer-led investment, and traditional ICEV manufacturer-led investment.

Associate Professor Chen Ting's main research areas include logistics and supply chain management, sustainable operations management, and technological innovation and management. Her relevant research outcomes have been published in internationally authoritative ABS 3-star journals such as TechnovationIJPR, and TRE, as well as in top-tier Chinese FMS T1 journals like Journal of Management Engineering and Chinese Journal of Management.
