Hebei University Successfully Held the Symposium on Constructing and Developing Discipline Group
of Life Sciences and Green Development and Xiong'An Life Sciences Forum
On October 14th, “The Symposium on Constructing and Developing Discipline Group of Life Sciences and Green Development and Xiong'An Life Sciences Forum”, sponsored by the Institute of Life Sciences and Green Development of Hebei University(HBU), the School of Life Sciences of HBU and the Institute of Xiong'An New Area, HBU, undertaken by the School of Life Sciences of HBU, was successfully held in Hebei University in Baoding. Eleven experts were invited to deliver speeches at the Conference. Moreover, more than 500 teachers and students of related fields of HBU and other universities attended the Conference.
The opening ceremony of the Conference was presided by Professor Gong Zhizhong, Chairman of the Conference and Vice President of HBU. He briefly introduced the overall conditions of HBU, the construction of discipline group of life sciences and green development, and the discussion content of this forum. Researcher Qian Qian, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) and Deputy Director of Yazhou Bay National Laboratory, delivered a report on the theme of “A Historical Review of the 50th anniversary of Three- line Hybrid Rice”. Professor Zhu Jiankang, Academician of American Academy of Sciences as well as President of Institute of Advanced Biotechnology, Southern University of Science and Technology, made a speech titled “From the fifth DNA Base to Health and Longevity”. Researcher Xu Ruiming of Institute of Biophysics, CAS, shared a report titled “The Molecular Mechanism in DNA Replication-Coupled Nucleosome Assemble”. Researcher Zhu Bing, Deputy Director of Institute of Biophysics, CAS, delivered an academic report on “Epigenetics: Remembering the Past and Facing the Future”. Prof. Li Guohong, dean of the School of Life Sciences, Wuhan University, gave a report entitled “Chromatin Structure and Human Disease”; Prof. Zhou Xueping, director of the State Key Laboratory of Plant Protection Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, gave a report entitled “Theory and Practice of Crop Virus Disease Prevention and Control”; Researcher Zuo Jianru, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a report entitled "Preliminary Study on the Genetic Basis of Rice Nitrogen Nutrition”; Prof. Guo Yan, dean of College of Biology, China Agricultural University, gave a report entitled “Plant Response to Saline-alkali Stress”; Professor Qi Yijun, School of Life Sciences, Tsinghua University, gave a entitled “Mechanism and Function of RNA Regulation in Plants”; Prof. Yang Shuhua, College of Biology, China Agricultural University, gave a report entitled “Molecular Regulation Mechanism of Plant Tolerance to Low Temperature”; Prof. Sun Jianghua, School of Life Sciences, Hebei University, gave a report entitled “Chemical Communication and Molecular Regulation of Interspecific Interactions of Pine Wood Nematode Disease”. This forum provides theoretical basis and science-based guidance for solving difficult problems in the field of life sciences and major ecological and environmental issues in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The successful convening of this forum provides a high-level academic exchange platform for research on life sciences of HBU, promotes the academic exchange and cooperation between relevant scientific research institutions and HBU, enhances the understanding of the world's cutting-edge scientific research progress in the field of life sciences among participating teachers and students, and further boosts the academic influence of our school. Furthermore, it provides strong support for the construction of “double first-class” in HBU with high speed and high quality.
