The Theoretical Physics Team of College of Physics Made New Progresses in Quantum Field Theory and Quantum Electrodynamics
The Theoretical Physics Team, of the College of Physics, is mainly engaged in the basic physics research of fields like particle physics and cosmology. Under the leadership of Professor Feng Taifu, the team has made a series of important progress in recent years. Recently, the team has made several new developments in the research of the calculation methods of Feynman integrals in quantum field theory, quantum electrodynamics, and phenomenology of new physics:
1. On the calculation methods of Feynman integrals in quantum field theory, Professor Feng Taifu and others got a set of hypergeometric partial differential equations that can be satisfied by Feynman integrals, using Mellin-Barnes representation and Miller transform. And on this basis, they constructed the multiple hypergeometric series expression by using triangulation. The relevant result is published in Nucl. Phys. B 953 (2020) 114952.
2. On the super-symmetric models of phenomenology of new physics, Professor Feng Taifu, Professor Zhao Shumin, Associate Professor Zhang Haibin and others seriously studied the scalar neutrinos in the candidates of dark matter, under a derived super-symmetric model of U(1)X gauge group. The relevant result is published in J. High Energy Phys. 02 (2020) 130. The team studied the rare decay process of the Higgs boson, that is, God Particle, and the two-loop radiation correction of muon magnetic dipole moment, under the standard super-symmetric model of μν. The relevant result is published in J. High Energy Phys. 04 (2020) 002. They also studied the electric dipole moment of neutrons, quarks and electrons and the generation of electroweak baryons, under a derived super-symmetric model of U(1)B-L gauge group. The relevant result is published in J. High Energy Phys. 04 (2020) 013 and Eur. Phys. J. C 80 (2020) 210.
3. On the vacuum instability and the vacuum polarization effect of quantum electrodynamics under the effect of external electromagnetic fields, Tiago Adorno, our school-hired professor, and others studied the most basic procedure of zero-order quanta caused by an electric field satisfying the inverse-square law. They got a new and accurate example of the steady and non-uniform field, without using perturbation calculation. The relevant result is published in Eur. Phys. J. C 80 (2020) 88. They also studied the linear magnetic response from a vacuum space of steady electric field to a Coulomb field. The magnetic response was caused by vacuum polarization, and can be described with the second-order polarizability tensor. The relevant result is published in Eur. Phys. J. C 80 (2020) 308.
Nucl. Phys. B, J. High Energy Phys. and Eur. Phys. J. C, all three are the international authoritative journals in particle physics studies. The mentioned studies of the team were supported by the Key Projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Young Talents Support Program of Hebei (China), and the High-level Talent Introduction Fund of Hebei (China).
