Plant and Animal Science at HBU Ranks ESI Top 1%

On January 12, Clarivate Analytics released the statistics of ESI from January 1, 2012, to October 31, 2022. Hebei University makes one step further in its development with its Plant and Animal Science discipline entering the ESI top 1%. It becomes the 5th ESI-listed discipline of Hebei University after Chemistry, Material Sciences, Engineering, and Clinical Medicine, which means a new level of the development of the Biology discipline at Hebei University.

The Biology discipline of Hebei University is the first-class construction discipline of Hebei Province, and the "One Province, One School" key discipline of the Ministry of Education. Backed by the discipline development project of Life Science and Green Development disciplines jointly built by the Ministry and Province, the school attaches great importance to the development of the Biology discipline, adopts innovative ideas, integrates high-quality resources to promote interdisciplinary integration and boost the construction of the platform for innovative research of Biology discipline. The comprehensive strength and international influence of the Biology discipline of Hebei University have seen significant progress as a result of scientific planning and strategy by principal investigators and academic leaders.

ESI (Essential Science Indicators) is an analytical tool based on the Web of Science Core Collection database. ESI ranks research statistics and research strengths for institutions, countries, and journals in 22 broad disciplines based on paper publication and citation performance. At present, ESI is one of the important indicators for evaluating the international academic level and influence of universities, scientific research institutions, and countries/regions.
