Hemiao Maker Space

Established for a hundred year, upholding the school motto “seeking truth from acts, being diligent in study and be honest in behavior” as the university spirit, Hebei University has formed unique university cultural connotation and school spirit, namely, “being knowledgeable, seeking truth, being consistent, being innovative”. Under the new situation “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, the university continues to deepen the reform of education and teaching, and places cultivating innovative and entrepreneurial talents, as a system project combined with heavy resources at the most important places of talent cultivation, forming the educating concept, which is “integration of professional education and innovative education, interaction between the first classroom and the second classroom, and mutual exchange between school resources and social resources”. Founded in 2016, Hemiao Maker Space is located on the fourth floor of Huarunyuan Restaurant in north block of main campus, whose original site is the incubation base of Hebei University Entrepreneurial College. In 2015, in response to the spirit of the “Guiding Opinion of the General Office of the State Council on Promoting the Maker Space for Public Innovation and Entrepreneurship” (issued by General Office of the State Council〔2015〕NO.9), after fully demonstration, extensive research, careful design, Hebei University initiated the establishment Hemiao Maker Space. After a year of transformation and construction, environmental optimization and project promotion, Hemiao Maker Space has been become a refined, full-featured college students entrepreneurial incubation base. The construction area of Hemiao Maker Space is 1,200 square meters. It has a comprehensive service desk, project roadshow hall, communication hall, comprehensive conference hall, incubation training hall, achievement exhibition hall, data information center, entrepreneurial coffee shop and other functional areas. The maker space has a magnificent layout and clear functional zone to make efficient collaboration, which realizes the comprehensive one-stop service function integrating students' innovation and entrepreneurship guidance, education, training and incubation. Since the establishment, Hemiao Maker Space has organized more than 100 various types of entrepreneurial salon, 26 entrepreneurship trainings, and has incubated more than 60 student entrepreneur team. A batch of entrepreneurship typical and “Entrepreneurship Star” of Hebei Province have been cultivated, represented by the founder of “Laidian Creative Hotel” He Yan, founder of “Tanxiaofengsheng Network Technology Co., Ltd.” Nie Xin, and the founder of “Zhijiansuyin” Du Yaxin, which has formed a strong entrepreneurial atmosphere throughout the school In the future development, Hemiao Maker Space will be based on the “small but beautiful” development concept with discipline characteristics, taking it as ordinate origin to connect with off-campus innovative and entrepreneurial training base, and gradually build a point-type distribution, line into the surface, multi-faceted entrepreneurial incubator platform. In the continuous deepening reform of education and exploration of talent cultivation related to innovation and entrepreneurship, Hemiao Maker Space is gradually becoming a new highland and platform for innovation of college students and a great cradle to foster innovative entrepreneurial talent!

Art Education Center

Founded in 2002, Art Education Center is a quality education base of Hebei University. Art Education Center consists of eight art groups, including office of the center, Military Band, Chinese Traditional Orchestra, Dance Group, Ritual Model Group and so on. The center aims to comprehensively improve the overall quality of college students and promote the coordinated development of students' mind and body. Around 20,000 students participate in various activities of the center every academic year.

Martial Art Association

Martial Art Association of Hebei University was founded on the basis of martial arts team of Hebei University by Professor Wu Shuqing of Physical Research Department in Hebei University, who is a national famous martial artist, and national referee of Chinese martial art. Professor Duan Shuxing of College of Physics Science and Technology serves as head coach; Professor Zhou Shiqin, the famous martial artist, acts as martial art advisor; Head coach Dai Wei, who is a member of Chinese Martial Art Association, national second-level judge, first-level boxer in Baoding, and president of Shuiniantou Martial Art Association, acts as guide teacher. Martial Art Association of Hebei University is a student organization, under the leadership of Youth League Committee of the university, composed of vast number of martial arts enthusiasts. The Association has won numerous awards in municipal, provincial and national martial arts competitions. As one of “Eight National Outstanding Associations”, Martial Art Association is the largest in scale, the most strong and most fruitful association in Hebei University.

Sanyu Calligraphy Association

Founded in 1978, Sanyu Calligraphy Association was sponsored by Professor Lyu Zhiyi of School of History. Huang Qi, Qiong Renwang, Zhao Fengming and other famous calligraphers act as consultants. The name of Sanyu is from a sentence of Annuals of Three Kingdoms· Book of Wei Dynasty. That is, winter is a spare time in a year without farm work while night is a spare time in a day and rainy day also a spare time in four seasons, during which we may read books. As the only association of calligraphy amateur, Sanyu has a bright history with many members renowned in Hebei Province, like, Li Taiping (member of Chinese Calligraphers Association), Zhang Weidong (member of Chinese Calligraphers Association), Liu Debiao (vice chairman of Hebei Calligraphers Association), Zhao Tongan (member of Hebei Calligraphers Association), Fu Wenkui (member of Hebei Calligraphers Association), Zhang Mingcai (vice chairman of Baoding Association of young Calligraphists) and so on. More than thirty years, we have developed our own style among the associations of Hebei University, and the reason that the association has attracted many students, is not only because the splendid history, sound internal mechanism, high-level calligraphy consultants, colorful activities, but also in the principle abide by generations of Sanyu-er, which is carrying forward national culture, developing calligraphy spirit, practicing skills and finding a pure land for our spirit!

Self-Improvement Association

Self-Improvement Association of Hebei University is a student association under the leadership of the Student Financial Support Management Center of Students' Affairs Office in Hebei University, which also is the association’s head office. The association has 22 branches in every college. With the principle of “helping together with educating, aiding combined with inspiration, conveying the social concern and forging the self-improvement talent”, proposing the spirit of “self-confidence, self-esteem, self-improvement, self-reliance”, taking the website of Self-Improvement Association (sunshine student aid website)as publicity media, the association uses social resources and carries out various activities, to help impoverished students solve problems in life and mentality and at the same time focus on training their comprehensive quality and improve practical ability to offer them a platform to grow, practice and pass on kindness.

Green Life and Environment Development Association of Hebei University

Green Life and Environment Development Association was officially incorporated in June 2001 with the approval of the Youth League Committee of Hebei University. The association regularly conducts activities such as taking compulsory courses on environmental protection in primary schools, green class, “green bookshelf” project, “Xinmiao Cup” environmental knowledge contest and so on. Since January 2004, the association has repeatedly represented universities in Hebei Province to participate "National College Student Environmental Protection Association Training Camp” in Beijing. In 2004, the association won the National Outstanding Organization Award and individual second prize on the first "Green China - National Environmental Protection Knowledge Grand Prix”. In 2005, the association was awarded the National Excellent Student Association Certificate jointly issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Education, and the National Association of Students. In 2006, the association was conferred as “2006 National Youth Environmental Creative Communication Competition Excellent Association”.

Peking Opera Troupe of Hebei University

In 2008, Peking Opera Troupe of Art Education Center of Hebei University was founded on the basis of Peking Opera Troupe of Labor Union of Hebei University. Adhering to the tenet of “inheriting the Peking Opera, revitalizing traditional culture”, the troupe is unique in the campus cultural activities and take active work in the promotion of traditional culture and the spreading of Peking Opera. Since the foundation, members of the troupe have actively carried out the study of acting posture, singing style, string and wind instruments and percussion instruments, and asked teachers of the former Baoding Peking Opera Troupe to give on-the-spot guidance.
