Three Basic Disciplines Research Centers in Hebei Settled in HBU

Recently, the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology announced the project approval list for Hebei Basic Disciplines Research Centers. Hebei Computational Physics Basic Discipline Research Center, Hebei Synthetic Chemistry Basic Discipline Research Center, and Hebei Biological Interaction Basic Discipline Research Center were approved for construction in HBU. And six Basic Disciplines Research Centers in Hebei are reported to have been approved, while HBU has gotten approval for three of them, ranking first in Hebei.

Hebei Basic Disciplines Research Centers are not only significant parts of the science and technology innovation system in Hebei but also basic research bases for organizing and carrying out theoretical research in basic disciplines, including physics, chemistry, and biology, gathering and cultivating outstanding people, and implementing academic cooperation and exchanges. The main tasks of these centers are to carry out forward-looking, pioneering, and original basic theoretical research orienting toward the forefront of the development of basic disciplines, to steadily support a group of excellent personnel on basic research to explore, encourage interdisciplinary research, promote exchanges and cooperation between China and abroad, seek breakthroughs of original achievements in critical fields, and strive to build academic highland and talent highland that are open and innovative and have a significant influence both in China and abroad.

The approval of Hebei Basic Disciplines Research Centers has further enriched the types of scientific research platforms in HBU and will provide favorable support for advancing the “double first-class” construction of HBU with high quality. The establishment of Basic Discipline Research Centers is conducive to basic disciplines in HBU, such as physics, chemistry, and biology, to orient toward the forefront of discipline development and the national strategic demands. It also concisely proposes the scientific question of “0 to 1” in the discipline field, determines research directions and tasks with distinctive advantages and characteristics, and achieve breakthroughs in related fields.
