Hebei University Attends “World University Presidents Forum 2025” and “International Forum on Higher Education 2025”

On November 8-9, Meng Qingyu, President of Hebei University, was invited to attend the “World University Presidents Forum 2025” and the “International Forum on Higher Education 2025” held in Hangzhou. Under the theme “Action and Reflection: How Local Comprehensive Universities Serve the National Strategy for Opening Up Education,” he shared with the participants the top-level design and innovative practices of Hebei University in cultivating high-quality international talents and serving the national strategy for opening up education.

Meng Qingyu pointed out that the Outline of the Plan for Building a Leading Education Nation sets clear requirements for “improving the strategies and measures for opening up education and building globally influential key education hubs,” charting the course for innovation and high-level opening up in China’s higher education. Against the backdrop of imbalanced allocation of high-level, high-quality international education resources, local universities must focus on the core objectives of the national strategy for opening up education. By leveraging their institutional strengths and addressing the needs of regional economic and social development, they should formulate and implement action plans that integrate “high-level alignment, differentiated resource attraction, and localized services.” In this way, they can steadfastly fulfill their mission of contributing to the development of a leading higher education nation.

During the forum, Meng Qingyu also gave interviews and exclusive talks to China Education Television and China Education Online, where he highlighted Hebei University’s efforts in building and nurturing two major disciplinary clusters: “Yanzhao Culture” and “Life Sciences and Green Development.” He also shared the university’s typical experiences and representative achievements in cultivating top-notch innovative talents and contributing to the building of a leading education nation.

The “World University Presidents Forum 2025” and the “International Forum on Higher Education 2025” were held under the themes “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Higher Education” and “Building a Leading Education Nation and Sustainable Development of Higher Education,” respectively. The events brought together 167 overseas participants, including university presidents, representatives of international organizations, government officials, and experts and scholars from over 40 countries and regions across five continents. Additionally, nearly 20 academicians, over 200 domestic university secretaries and presidents, more than 100 renowned experts and scholars in the field of higher education, and nearly 1,000 representatives from domestic universities and research institutions attended the forums.
