British Ambassador to China, Caroline Wilson, Visited HBU
On the afternoon of April 3, Caroline Wilson, the British ambassador to China, and her delegation visited HBU. Shen Shigang and Meng Qingyu, members of the Party Committee and vice presidents of HBU, met with Caroline Wilson at the Qiyi Road Campus of HBU. Yang Weikun, Vice Mayor of Baoding, Zhang Xiaoxia, Secretary General of Baoding Municipal People's Government, Zhang Linfeng, Director of Baoding Municipal People's Government Foreign Affairs Office, and Deputy Director Zhang Li of the European Division of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Hebei Province, P.R. China, attended the event.
Caroline Wilson and her delegation visited the first-floor exhibition hall, library, design workshop and on-site teaching, virtual broadcasting studio, large-scale recording studio, computer room and on-site teaching, and multi-functional terrace classroom and other teaching facilities at HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries. The excellent teaching staff, first-class equipment and facilities, international educational philosophy, and outstanding educational achievements of HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries left a lasting impression on visitors.
During the symposium, Shen Shigang, on behalf of HBU, addressed a sincere welcome to Caroline Wilson and her delegation and expressed gratitude to Baoding Municipal People's Government for its long-term support for HBU. After introducing the basic situation of international exchange and cooperation of HBU, Shen Shigang conveyed his hope that this exchange would be an opportunity to fully exploit the resource advantages of all parties, achieve mutual benefit, and serve as new examples for Chinese-British cultural exchanges.
Caroline Wilson said that she had heard about the successful cooperation between HBU and UCLan before this visit, and she was rather glad to visit the beautiful campus and the new teaching facilities of HBU and to communicate with HBU teachers, which all impressed her. Also, Caroline Wilson fervently anticipated that the two universities could create a new model of Chinese-British cooperation in running schools.
Graham Baldwin, President of UCLan, reviewed the history of cooperation with HBU and expressed admiration for their remarkable achievements. He thanked HBU for its dedication and continuous support and expressed his pride in the accomplishments of HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries. Also, he said that he was excited to see how future relations between China and the UK evolve.
Lv Yi, Dean of HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries, introduced the general situation of the school and the great achievements of students in post-graduate enrollment as well as domestic and international competitions. He stated that all the faculty of HBU-UCLan School of Media, Communication and Creative Industries will cultivate more outstanding students in the comprehensive and innovative field of media and creative industries with patriotism, international vision, and global competitiveness.
They planted a friendship tree together following their discussions.
